Eligibility and Enrollment
The Management Development Certificate is for early- to mid-career professionals — typically those with one to five years in their current role or industry — who want to gain practical leadership skills they can apply immediately on the job.
Each program has its own start dates, and some are offered multiple times per year. Visit the program page that interests you to view upcoming dates and enroll directly. No formal application is required.
Programs and Curriculum
To earn the earn the Management Development Certificate, complete any four of the six eligible faculty-led programs within five years. You may also substitute one in-person open enrollment program for two programs within the Management Development Certificate pathway. Choose the programs that align with your career goals to create a personalized learning experience and strengthen your leadership toolkit.
Scheduling and Format
Each program lasts four to eight weeks and is delivered in a flexible online format designed for working professionals. You may complete programs in any order and at the pace that works best for your schedule. Plan to spend two to three hours per week on video lessons, interactive assignments and live online sessions with Darden faculty. You’ll learn through case studies, hands-on projects, cohort-based experiences and, in some programs, AI-powered simulations.
Pricing and Payment
Programs range from $1,700 to $3,800, and you pay as you go. This flexible structure allows you to spread out the cost by enrolling in one program at a time. Payment must be received at least 30 days prior to a program’s start date. We accept payment by American Express, MasterCard and Visa.
Yes. Many participants use employer tuition assistance or professional development funds to help cover program costs. We recommend checking with your human resources team to explore what support may be available.
Certificate Recognition
Once you complete four programs, you’ll earn the UVA Darden Management Development Certificate, a respected credential from a top-ranked business school. You’ll receive a verified digital certificate and a digital badge that you can add to your LinkedIn profile, resume or professional portfolio to showcase your achievement and leadership development.
